Early Childhood

Success in school - and later life - depends on a strong foundation in early childhood, particularly during the first 1,000 days of life.

An important aspect of CSSP’s early childhood work is ensuring that families and their young children are able to access the supports that allow children to thrive. The goal is to ensure that all children are healthy – physically, socially, emotionally and behaviorally - and enter school ready to learn. CSSP is committed to closing the gaps that exist in the educational opportunities often facing children of color and low-income families. It’s important to recognize that ensuring children are successful requires policies aimed at meeting the needs of children birth to age 8 which includes meeting the needs of their parents and caregivers. Caregivers need to be able to provide the best environment for children to meet developmental milestones.
